Success in affordable housing comes from experience, creativity and leadership. The Stevens Group, located in Carbondale, Colorado has been at the forefront of affordable housing development for over twenty years. The Roaring Fork Valley, and Aspen in particular, has provided some of the greatest challenges in producing affordable housing of anywhere in the country. Here, the need for affordable housing has extended beyond the lowest income groups and reached into the middle class, a class typically not thought of in the discussion of affordable housing. The need for affordable housing is literally defined by the disparity between what the working class can afford and what the market offers. Few, if any, areas in the country see the level of disparity that we do in this valley.
